Chelsea: Mourinho won't be coming back

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has dismissed rumours linking Jose Mourinho to a return to Stamford Bridge. The 'special one' led the Blues to two Premier League titles in a row before leaving the club under acrimonious circumstances in September 2007.

Since Jose's departure the club have had three different managers – Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari and interim boss Guus Hiddink – but none have been able to live up to the achievements of the former Porto boss.

Despite speculation that Mourinho could be welcomed back during the summer like a veritable prodigal son, Buck has moved to nip the rumours in the bud: "Jose was a great coach and a great guy but I think his time at Chelsea has passed."

Buck continued: "We have great respect, obviously, for what he did for Chelsea and we are on great terms with him. He is a great guy and he did great things for the club. But Jose, the board and Roman decided it was time for him to leave."
