Chelsea are reported to have made a late bid for AC Milan playmaker Kaka just hours after Real Madrid claimed to have captured the Brazilian star's signature in a deal worth somewhere in the region of £65m.
Kaka looked set for a move to the Bernabéu late last night with the La Liga expecting the 27-year-old to sign a five-year contract sometime today. However, reports in the English press this morning suggest that Chelsea have come in with an even bigger offer for the Brazilian following a break down in negotiations between Real and the player's agent and father Bosco Leite.
Another factor which could potentially swing the balance in Chelsea's favour is the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge. The Italian was instrumental in the development of Kaka into one of the best attacking players in the world. Watch this space.
