Chelsea make £48m bid for Robinho

Chelsea are reported to have made a £48m bid for Real Madrid and Brazil playmaker Robinho, who is said to be intent on working with Luiz Felipe Scolari. The La Liga champions, however, are reported to be reluctant to sell the 24-year-old as the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo still hangs in the balance.

According to The Guardian, Robinho met with Real Madrid officials at the Bernabéu yesterday and made it clear that he wants to join Chelsea. The Ex-Santos player is said to be unhappy about reports that he would be part of a player-plus cash deal in the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer.

While Chelsea have long courted Robinho, it is the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari at the London club that has convinced the 24-year-old Brazilian to leave the Bernabéu. Robinho is due to return to Brazil today to meet up with the Brazilian Olympic squad, but it is reported that he will pull out of Beijing if a move to Chelsea is secured.
