Chelsea lose 3-1 away to Wigan

Chelsea's 100 per cent record under Carlo Ancelotti came to an unlikely end on Saturday when the Blues lost 3-1 away to Wigan. The Lactics hadn't beaten a top four side in 34 league games but were well worth the victory on Saturday.

The much maligned Titus Bramble put Wigan ahead after 16-minutes when the centre-back punished some shocking marking by Chelsea to head a Charles N'Zogbia cross past Petr Cech. However, the in form Didier Drogba pulled the London side level two-minutes after the break.

The turning point in the match came on 51-minutes when Cech was sent off for taking down Hugo Rodallega in the box. The striker dusted himself down before firing the resulting spot-kick beyond substitute goalkeeper Hilario.

Things went from bad to worse for Chelsea when Ashley Cole hobbled off injured after his team had used all of their substitutions. Wigan pushed for a third goal and were rewarded when Paul Scharner converted a cross from Maynor Figueroa to seal a famous win.
