Despite rumours of Roman Abramovich feeling the effects of the credit crunch, i.e. no more caviare on his toast in the morning, Chelsea are set to try and sign Barcelona and Brazil right back Dani Alves.
The Blues tried to sign the attacking full-back from Sevilla during the summer, but the 25-year-old chose to move to the Camp Nou. But with Abramovich renewing his interest in the London club it now appears that Chelsea will make another offer for Alves.
While Alves has quickly settled into the first team at Barcelona he is not amongst the club's top earners and may be tempted by the giant cash stuffed carrot waved in front of his face by Chelsea. The news could spell the death knell on Portugal international Jose Bosingwa's career at Stamford Bridge.
