Chelsea hammer Spurs 3-0

Chelsea beat London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at Stamford Bridge yesterday to remain top of the Premier League. Ashley Cole put the Blues ahead in the first half before Michael Ballack made sure of the points on 57 minutes.

The outstanding Didier Drogba continued his good run of form with Chelsea's third goal on 62 minutes. The win sees Carlo Ancelotti's side maintain their one hundred per cent record this season leaving them three points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table.

Despite having strong claims for a penalty when Ricardo Carvalho appeared to foul Robbie Keane in the box Spurs struggled to get a foothold in midfield. The North London side's good start to the season was further blighted when their first choice centre-back pairing of Ledley King and Sebastien Bassong picked up injuries leaving Harry Redknapp with a defensive crisis.

The only blot on the copybook for Chelsea was the suspected calf injury which forced Drogba to leave the field on 83 minutes.
