Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to leapfrog Liverpool in second place and keep their title hopes alive. Salomon Kalou was the hero on the night picking up a well deserved brace.
Chelsea struggled to break down a dogged Boro in the first-half wasting a number of gilt-edged chances until Kalou broke the deadlock on 58 minutes with a well taken volley. The Ivory Coast international doubled the Blues' lead ten minutes before the end, heading home a Frank Lampard corner.
The win sees Chelsea move ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and keep the pressure up on leaders Manchester United. With Liverpool's title challenge looking like it's on the rocks, Scolari's side could be the only team left challenging United come the end of the season.
