Chelsea beat Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield

Chelsea have all but secured their place in the Champions League semi-final after beating Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield. Branislav Ivanoic was the hero for the Blues on the night with two headed goals.

The victory was well deserved with Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink outfoxing Rafa Benitez tactically. The Dutch manager put Michael Essien in the holding role and the Ghana midfielder marked Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard out of the match.

The Reds had gone ahead on six minutes through Fernando Torres, but Liverpool failed to impose themselves on the game with the absence of midfield general Xavier Mascherano keenly felt.

Didier Drogba put the icing on the result and an outstanding individual performance with Chelsea's third. It now looks as if Liverpool can concentrate on the league.
