Chelsea 5 Blackburn 0

Chelsea moved back to the top of the Premier League with an emphatic 5-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

Carlo Ancelotti's team blew away their opponents with a stunning display of attacking football spearheaded by Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and the recently returned Joe Cole.

The England midfielder, making his first start for Chelsea since 11 January, produced an impressive display just behind the front two of Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

Despite Chelsea's vulnerability from set pieces, underlined in their recent defeats to both Wigan and Villa, Blackburn were unable to capitalize on the apparent weakness and badly missed David Dunn and Christopher Samba who were both out sick.

Chelsea went ahead in the first half when Gaël Givet put the ball into his own net under pressure from Didier Drogba. However, it took the Blues until the 48th minute to double their lead when Lampard continued his recent scoring streak with a trademark finish.

Blackburn's afternoon got even worse just four minutes later when Essien let fly with a pile driver from 35 yards which beat Paul Robinson in the Rovers' goal. Lampard added a second from the penalty spot after Ryan Nelson had fouled Drogba in the box.

The Ivory Coast captain got in on the act himself on 63 minutes when he headed home a Lampard free kick leaving the despairing Robinson to pick the ball out of the net for the fifth time.
