Chelsea 1 Manchester United 0

Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 this afternoon at Stamford Bridge to move six points clear at the top of the Premier League table. John Terry got the all important goal on 76 minutes to give the Blues all three points in a game which United dominated.

Sir Alex Ferguson started with five in midfield in an attempt to stifle Chelsea's midfield leaving Wayne Rooney upfront on his own. The decision appeared to have paid off as Deco, Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard struggled to impose themselves on the game.

United will feel aggrieved for a number of crucial refereeing decisions which went against them: first Rooney was flagged offside on eight minutes when clear in on goal despite the fact that Ashley Cole was clearly playing the England striker onside.

Second, the referee waved away two potential penalties for United when Terry appeared to foul Valencia while Lampard handled an O'Shea cross in the box late on.

However, Chelsea weren't complaining and took the lead in controversial circumstances when Fletcher was adjudged to have fouled Drogba despite Clearly winning the ball cleanly. Terry got his head onto the end of a Lampard free-kick to give Chelsea all three points.
