Chelsea 1 Bolton Wanderers 0

Chelsea moved four points clear of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League this evening with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Anelka’s first-half goal was enough for Carlo Ancelotti’s side who looked nervous against a compact Bolton side in a tight match. The French striker got on the end of a Didier Drogba cross just two minutes before the break and powered a header past Jaaskelainen.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle believed that his team should have been awarded a penalty for a handball by Drogba and replays suggest that the Wanderers' boss was correct.

However, the Blues got the win despite mind games from Sir Alex Ferguson at the weekend who suggested that the Bolton game would be an easy three points for Chelsea.
