Champions League round-up

It was yet another good night for the English clubs in the Champions League yesterday evening, with both Chelsea and Arsenal having comfortable wins that further cemented their comfortable positions at the top of their respective groups.

Arsenal ran riot at home against Ukrainian champs Shakhtar Donetsk, winning 5-1, while Chelsea were victorious in Russia, beating Spartak Moscow 2-0. However, despite their comfortable position, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti says that he wants to make sure that his side finish top of the group.

‘We have to stay focused about the next game,’ said the Italian. ‘We want to finish in first place. The Champions League is important every time you play.

‘We played a good game. It was not easy because Spartak, above all in the second half, played well. But we established good control in that first half, scoring two goals, and then controlled it defensively in the second. We played well at the back, above all Petr Cech, who made some fantastic saves.’
