Celtic win the Scottish Premier League

Celtic won their third Scottish Premier League title in a row last night beating Dundee 1-0 with Rangers going down 2-0 at Aberdeen. The much criticised Gordon Strachan became the first Celtic manager since Jock Stein to win three league titles in a row.

It is a remarkable achievement for the former Coventry and Southampton boss who had to fill the very big shoes left by Martin O'Neill. But it remains to be seen if Strachan will be at the helm next season. There is much speculation that he will part company with the Glasgow side in the summer.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink was the hero on the night for Celtic heading the winner after 72 minutes. Rangers had Nacho Novo sent off before Lee Miller and Darren Mackie condemned Walter Smith's side to a 2-0 defeat.

The SPL victory came a week after the premature death of the former Celtic player, manager and coach Tommy Burns. Striker Scott Mc Donald dedicated the league title to Burns' memory.
