Capello welcomes England's World Cup draw

England were handed a favourable World Cup draw on Friday which should see them top Group C without any problems. Fabio Capello's team avoided teams of the calibre of France, Portugal and the Ivory Coast and will instead play the United States, Algeria and Slovenia.

However, the Italian preached caution talking up both the USA and Slovenia as well as underlining that Algeria are largely an unknown quantity: 'We know very well USA and Slovenia, because we have played against Slovenia, and in the second half they played well. I saw the games USA played here, they played very well against Spain [in the Confederations Cup].'

'They know very well what they have to do here, because they have the experience of playing here in South Africa. Algeria, I don't know. I saw their goals from qualification, I haven't seen an entire game.'

France, winners of the controversial play-off against the Republic of Ireland last month, will also fancy their chances of topping Group A having been drawn in the same pool as South Africa, Mexico and Uruguay.

Favourites Brazil got the short straw in what is sure to be called the group of death and will have to face Ivory Coast, Portugal and North Korea.
