Capello loses Gerrard and Hargreaves for World Cup qualifiers
Fabio Capello is reported to be fuming after both Rafa Benitez and Sir Alex Ferguson made his tough start to the England manager's job even more difficult. The Italian is going to have to plan for England's back to back World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia without two key players: Steven Gerrard and Owen Hargreaves.
The former Real Madrid manager is said to have been angered by Liverpool's failure to inform him about Gerrard's groin operation. Fergie's insistence that Hargreaves won't be fit to face Croatia despite lining out tonight for United in the European Super Cup Final just added insult to injury .
By now Capello will have realised that, although enticing on paper, the England job is far from easy with a number of key issues to tackle: lack of a world class goalkeeper, unbalanced midfield, lack of inform strikers combined with the weight of public expectation. The hostile attitude of club managers is just another problem he will have to add to the list.
