Brazil hammer the United States 3-0

Brazil hammered the United States 3-0 this afternoon in Pretoria to secure their place in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup.

The South American champions beat Egypt 4-3 under controversial circumstances earlier this week but manager Carlos Dunga was looking for a better performance from his players.

The Selecao didn't disappoint and took the lead on seven-minutes when Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo headed a Maicon free-kick past Tim Howard in the USA goal. Robinho made it 2-0 on twenty-minutes following a sweeping move started by Real Madrid's new signing Kaka.

Things got even worse for the US when Sacha Kljestan became the second American to be sent off in the tournament following a tackle from behind on Ramires. Man of the match Maicon topped off a stellar performance with Brazil's third goal on 62-minutes.
