Borthwick ruled out of France match

England captain Steve Borthwick has been ruled out of tomorrow’s Six Nations clash with France at Stade de France with a knee injury.

The Saracens player will be replaced in the second-row by Leicester’s Louis Deacon and the recalled Lewis Moody will skipper the side.

Martin Johnson and the England coaching staff had hoped that Borthwick would be available for selection but he was ruled out following a scan on the knee injury picked up against Scotland.

Stade Francais lock Tom Palmer has been promoted to the bench for England’s last match of the championship.

Borthwick’s captaincy has come under fire throughout the Six Nations so it will be interesting to see how England fare tomorrow in his absence.
