Blair called up to Lions squad

Scotland captain Mike Blair has been called up to the British & Irish Lions squad for the summer to South Africa as a replacement for the injured Tomas O'Leary. The Edinburgh captain missed out on original selection earlier this month but underlined that he will make the most of the chance he has been given due to O'Leary's bad luck.

"I'm really pleased to have been given the opportunity to tour with the British and Irish Lions, it is a massive honour," Blair said. "The call-up just goes to show how quickly everything can change in rugby and I'm determined to seize my chance and make an impact."

England flanker Tom Croft also looks set to be called up to the 37-man touring party if Munster's Alan Quinlan is suspended for an alleged eye gouging incident in the Heineken Cup semi-final loss to Leinster. The 34-year-old Ireland international will face a European Rugby Cup disciplinary panel tomorrow.
