Bentley admits that Spurs are a joke

Tottenham winger David Bentley has acknowledged that his team have become the butt of many jokes after spending over £70m on new players and then picking up two just points in seven games.

With the team in complete disarray, it’s been Spurs' worst start to the season since 1912. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Bentley admitted that the bad start was the responsibility of the players and staff: 'I know people are having a laugh at the fact we are bottom of the league at the moment but it's up to everyone at the club to stop the jokes.’

The former Arsenal player also said that he had no regrets about joining Spurs from Blackburn in the summer, despite losing his place in the England squad to Shaun Wright Phillips: 'I still love being at Spurs and I don't regret joining the club for one second.’ Spurs’ fans will be hoping that Bentley isn’t left eating his words at the end of the season.
