Rafael Benitez has revealed that he will have to sell players during the summer if he wants to fulfill his transfer ambitions. The Liverpool manager will have between £20m-£30m to spend plus whatever he can raise from offloading dead weight.
Gareth Barry remains top of Benitez's wish list and the Aston Villa captain should cost somewhere in the region of £18m. David Silva and Raul Albiol of Valencia and Portsmouth fullback Glen Johnson are also believed to be on Liverpool's radar.
Quizzed on how much money he will have to spend on new players Benitez replied: "More or less I have an idea. Clearly we have to work hard and maybe we need to sell someone." Dutch striker Ryan Babel, Italian defender Andrea Dossena and Danish centre back Daniel Agger are all believed to be up for sale at the end of the season.
