There’s a passage in Ang Lee’s classic movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that goes something like: “In battle, the wise throw their best lieutenants into the heat of the fighting only when without them, the battle is lost. And if you’re Rafa Benítez and one-nil down away from home, you should get Crouching Tiger on as soon as possible. To delay invites your enemy to make you look a bit silly.”
Poor old Rafa – once he’d actually got Peter Crouch on, the big man caused havoc. But by the time he’d delayed and delayed, the Turks had scored again and the game was effectively lost.
Is Rafa tactically naïve? Or do they need to get Crouch a tracksuit that’s much quicker to get off?
