Bendtner fires Arsenal to victory over Hull

Nicklas Bendtner scored an injury time goal to give Arsenal a vital away win over Hull City yesterday afternoon. The victory saw The Gunners move into second place in the Premier League on level points with Chelsea.

Andrei Arshavin had put Arsenal ahead on 14 minutes when he showed a great turn of pace and a beautiful finish past Boaz Myhill in the Hull goal.

However, The Tigers equalized on 28 minutes through a Jimmy Bullard penalty after a clumsy tackle from Sol Campbell Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

The dismissal of George Boateng for a second bookable offence appeared to have swung the game back in Arsenal’s favour but The Gunners struggled to break down a resolute Hull side.

Arshavin wasted an gilt-edged opportunity to put The Gunners ahead after a brilliant run and cut back from substitute Theo Walcott, firing his shot high and wide.

Just when it appeared that the two teams were set to share the points Bendtner popped up with a vital goal. The Danish striker was quickest to react after Myhill was unable to hold a Denilson shot from the edge of the area.
