Beckham wants Milan return

David Beckham has spoken about his hopes of returning to AC Milan in January for a second loan spell as he aims to secure a place in the England squad for next year's World Cup in South Africa.

Fabio Capello has repeatedly made it clear that Beckham will have to play football in Europe during the winter if he is to have any chance of making the plane for South Africa 2010 and the 34-year-old is now looking for a move back to Serie A.

Beckham was overlooked by Capello at the start of the Italian's reign, but managed to win his place back in the England squad following a string of good performances during his loan spell at Milan.

'It's simple - I want to return to Milan and Milan have said they would be happy to have me back,' Beckham told the La Gazzetta dello Sport.

'If it's all right with Milan and it's all right with me, I don't see what problems there could be. No, I don't think there'll be any problems and I think I'll return when the transfer market reopens in January.'

However, Goldenballs dismissed rumours that he is set to return to the Premier League. 'There's no danger of the destination changing,' he said quizzed about a move to Chelsea. 'I was happy at Milan. I'd like to take things where I left off in May.'
