Beckham recalled to England squad for Spain friendly

David Beckham looks set to equal Booby Moore's record of 108 caps for an outfield player after being recalled to the England squad by Fabio Capello for Wednesday's friendly against Euro 2008 winners Spain in Madrid.

Injuries to Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney means Michael Carrick may have an opportunity to stake a claim for a place in England's central midfield while West Ham's Carlton Cole looks set to win his first cap following a run of good form for West Ham.

Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka has also been included thanks to his outstanding form for the Toffees in recent weeks. But no doubt it will be Beckham who hits the headlines in the week that the LA Galaxy rejected a £6.75m bid from AC Milan for the former England captain.
