Beckham: I want to return to Milan

David Beckham has revealed that he wants to return to Milan next season just days after coming under fire from LA Galaxy fans for his lack of commitment to the Major League Soccer team.

The England midfielder impressed during his six-month loan deal at the San Siro and the Rossoneri's new manager Leonardo has made it clear that Goldenballs would be welcome back at the club following the end of the current MLS season.

"I hope to return to play for Milan," Beckham told reporters. "They have remained in my heart and honestly I am confident I will greet them again in November. Leonardo wants me immediately? It's really pleasing to see that I have left good memories."

The former Manchester United midfielder could be set to leave the Galaxy sooner rather than later after his relationship with the club's fans continues to deteriorate. Beckham was booed by large sections of home fans during yesterday's pre-season friendly with Milan before confronting an angry fan at half-time.

However, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani told reporters that there was no chance of the former England midfielder returning to the Italian club this year: "David knows the gates of Milanello [Milan's training ground] are open for him, his lawyers know that too, " he said. "I hope he returns in January. The most probable scenario is that Beckham comes in January until the end of next season and then returns to America. Before January there is no chance."
