Barnsley beat Chelsea in a weekend of giant killing

So, none of the Big Four will be getting their greasy mitts on the FA Cup this year after a weekend of shock results. Barnsley knocked out Chelsea, to further heap the pressure on Avram Grant, Cardiff dispatched a hapless Boro and West Brom hammered Bristol Rovers 5-1.

There is only one team from the top flight left in the Cup as Portsmouth beat Man Utd 1-0 at Old Trafford. It could be the first time since 1980 that a team from outside the top flight wins the cup. Amazing stuff.

But not everyone is so chuffed by the giant killing that went on over the weekend. It seems a lot of killjoys are turned off by the prospect of a lower league final. Is dominating the Premiership and Champions league spots not enough? Do people only want to see the glamour teams in the final?

In Italy only teams from the top two divisions can take part in the cup. The thinking behind it is that no one would want to see AC Milan being beaten by a Chesterfield or a Barnsley. They don't know what they're missing. The beauty of the FA Cup, as the weekend's games showed, is that any team can reach the final. Here's hoping for a Barnsley-Cardiff final.

Bristol Rovers-WestBrom 1-5

Barnsley-Chelsea 1-0
Man Utd-Portsmouth 0-1
