Barcelona hope to sign Fabregas by the weekend

Cesc Fabregas could rejoin Barcelona before the weekend after agreeing basic contract terms with the Catalan club according to reports in the Guardian this evening.

The Spain midfielder has told Arsene Wenger that he wants to return to the Camp Nou after six seasons in the Premier League and the La Liga champions appear confident of sealing the deal ahead of next month's World Cup.

The Catalan giants are reported to have initially offered £30m for the 23-year-old but Arsenal will accept nothing less than £40m for their star player and Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that he is willing to break the bank to complete the transfer.

The Guardian claims that Fabregas has already hammered out an agreement over wages and the length of contract with his former club. Yaya Toure could be used as a part exchange in the deal although his agent, Dimitri Seluk, insists that the Ivory Coast midfielder will not be moving to Arsenal.
