Australia earn Ashes draw with dogged batting display

Australia vice-captain Michael Clarke scored his 12th first class century on his 50th Test appearance to earn his team a draw in the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

England started the day still in with a chance of moving 2-0 ahead in the npower series but Australia had other ideas and the home side struggled to breakdown the tourists' stubborn batting display.

Both teams agreed to declare a draw when Clarke racked up his century to give Australia a second-innings total of 375 for five while England failed to capture a wicket during the two-and-a-half session between lunch and tea.

Australia started this morning 25 runs adrift of England's total on 88 for two but managed to play their way back into the Test through Clarke's heroics. All eyes now turn towards Headingley on Friday for the fourth Test.
