Andrei Arshavin made his Arsenal début this afternoon at the Emirates against Sunderland, but the Russian was unable to inspire the Gunners who played out a frustrating 0-0 draw.
The former Zenit player went close early on with a snapshot which Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop did well to push to safety. But Sunderland defended doggedly and went close themselves through Andy Reid and Anton Ferdinand.
The Gunners continued to toil but Arshavin tired in the second half leaving Arsene Wenger's side with a lack of creativity in the middle of the park. Emmanuel Adebayor, Eduardo, Cesc Fábregas and Tomas Rosicky were all sitting in the stands and Arsenal could have done with even just one of them this afternoon.
