Arsenal move within three points of Chelsea

Arsenal moved within three points of Premier League leaders Chelsea thanks to a 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon. Cesc Fabregas and substitute Fran Merida got the goals which saw Owen Coyle make a losing start as Bolton manager.

The former Burnley boss had had little time to work with his new squad but appeared to have instilled some of the attractive football that characterized his Clarets' side into a team renowned for its route one tactics. However, the result sees Bolton remain second from bottom of the league.

Fabregas put the Gunners ahead on 28-minutes after a tidy one-two with Eduardo. Matt Taylor wasted a number of good chances to draw Bolton level in what was at times an ill-tempered game. However, after a quiet second half Fabregas once again provided a moment of magic to unlock the Bolton defence. A storming run by the Spaniard set up Eduardo who played in Merida and the young midfielder secured all three points with a neat finish.
