Arsenal suffered another home defeat in the league, going down 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates. Gabriel Agbonlahor was the hero for Martin O'Neill's side scoring a brace of goals.
Ashley Young missed a penalty in the first half for Villa but made up for his error by laying on Agbonlahor's first goal. The winger made sure of the three points ten minutes from the end of the match with a brilliant solo goal.
The result effectively ends the Gunners' title hopes even at this early stage of the season, but Arsene Wenger can have no complaints about the result. Aston Villa deserved the win against an Arsenal team that seemed devoid of any leadership.
