According to reports in the Guardian Arsenal will sign Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin in January to reinforce their squad following injuries to Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky.
The Gunners have sold four midfielders in the last year with Lassana Diarra, Mathieu Flamini, Alexander Hleb and Gilberto Silva all leaving the Emirates and there is a lack of experience in the team.
Speaking to French channel Canal Plus Arsene Wenger said: "I need a creative midfielder. The transfer window opens and, although we are not close to signing anyone at the moment, if we do buy I think what we need is maybe someone with a bit of experience." Arshavin would appear to fit the bill perfectly.
