Arsenal left sweating over Fabregas injury

Arsenal are sweating over the seriousness of the hamstring injury that club captain Cesc Fabregas picked up during the 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday.

The Spain international injured himself while netting a bizarre first-half goal which saw Anton Ferdinand’s attempted clearance rebound off the Arsenal midfielder and into the Sunderland goal.

Fabregas was in sublime form during the 6-0 demolition of Braga in the Champions League last Wednesday but has now joined Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner on the sidelines.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that the club is still unsure of how many games Fabregas will miss.

‘He has a hamstring problem but, I can't tell how long he will be out for,’ Wenger said. ‘Any speculation would be wrong today because we have not had the scan.’
