Arsenal draw 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal got off to a good start in this season's Champions league campaign, drawing 1-1 away at Borussia Dortmund in a touch match. It was even one in which they could have walked away with all three points, but a draw at the Champions champions is not to be sniffed at.

Arsenal took the lead just before half time thanks to Robin van Persie, but were on the back foot for most of the second half: Dortmund pinned the Gunners back in their own half, and it wasn't any surprise when Ivan Perisic draw the sides level, thanks to an absolute wonder strike. However Arsenal fans can be heartened with the spirit that their team showed last night – Pat Rice certainly was.

'A point apiece is a good result here,' said Rice. 'I don't think many teams will come here and get a result. We battled really hard and we knew it would be a hard, hard game. To be able to defend well is a high quality skill and that is something all of our players did this evening.

'Don't forget Dortmund are a really good side. There is no question about that. And we were very, very close to beating them.'
