Arsenal moved back into the top four of the Premier League this afternoon with an emphatic 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates Stadium. The rout was led by record signing Andrei Arshavin who illustrated exactly why Arsene Wenger broke the bank to bring him to the club.
The Russia international opened his Arsenal account within three minutes of the kick-off. Nicklas Bendtner released Theo Walcott down the right wing with a beautiful pass and Arshavin was on hand to bundle the England winger's centre beyond Paul Robinson.
The £15m man's second goal was a work of art. Arshavin collected the ball on the end line, dummied Danny Simpson, before crashing the ball past Robinson from the tightest of angles. Emmanuel Eboué, target of the Arsenal boo boys up to a few weeks ago, also bagged himself a second half brace in a match in which the Gunners could have scored ten.
