Arsenal and Spurs draw blanks in north London derby

Arsenal's hopes of a Champions League spot next season was dealt a blow this afternoon when the Gunners drew 0-0 with Spurs in the north London derby. Emmanuel Adebayor limped off with a hamstring injury, while Emmanuel Eboue was sent off to compound a bad day at the office for Arsene Wenger.

Robbie Keane played his first match for Spurs since returning from Liverpool and went close to opening the scoring with a header in the first half. Arsenal also had new signing Andrei Arshavin available, but the Russian striker started on the bench.

The Gunners had chances through Song and van Persie, but they struggled as an attacking force when reduced to ten men. Eboue had lashed out at Luka Modric following an innocuous challenge and was shown his second yellow card of the game.

Arsenal are now in fifth place just four points ahead of the in form Everton. Wenger will be hoping that Arshavin can add some much needed vision to the Gunners' young midfield.
