Arsenal 3 Spurs 0

Arsenal crushed Tottenham Hotspur's top four aspirations in clinical fashion this afternoon with a 3-0 win to earn bragging rights in the North London derby.

Spurs haven't beaten the Gunners in the league since 1999 and despite both Robbie Keane and Harry Redknapp talking up their chances during the week Arsenal scored twice in the space of two minutes just before half time to kill off the game.

Despite huffing and puffing for 42 minutes Tottenham were undone by some comical defending from the often lauded Ledley King. The England centre-back allowed Robin van Persie to ghost in behind him and fire a Bacary Sagna cross past Heurelho Gomes.

Arsenal were 2-0 up less than a minute later when Cesc Fabregas stole from the kickoff before beating the challenges of Wilson Palacios, Tom Huddlestone and King before sliding the ball past the Tottenham keeper.

The Gunners controlled the game in the second half and went further ahead thanks to another piece of Sunday league defending from Spurs at the back. A mix up between Gomes and King allowed van Persie to fire the ball into the empty net to kill Tottenham off.
