Arsenal 2 Olympiacos 0

Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin scored late goals to secure Arsenal a 2-0 win over Olympiacos in their Champions League Group H game at The Emirates last night.

Despite dominating the match the Gunners failed to convert their superiority into goals until 12 minutes from time when van Persie scored his second goal in four days. The Holland international emphatically finished an Eduardo cut back following a darting run from the Croatia striker.

Veteran goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis had done his best to keep Arsenal at bay pulling off a string of brilliant saves but was helpless to deny the London side the three points. Arshavin scored with a cheeky back heel 4 minutes from time to put gloss on a what was at times a frustrating performance by the Gunners' forward line.
