Arminia Bielefeld goalie Rowen Fernandez scores own goal with face

There have been some really special own goals this season, from John Arne Riise's stooping header against Chelsea in the Champions League to Jan Durica's screamer in the Hungarian Cup game between Fehervar and Debrecen.

But neither of those errors can be considered as luckless as Rowen Fernandez's 83rd minute own goal in Arminia Bielefeld's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The goals brings to mind the delicious schadenfreude of that famous Hamlet ad from the 80s.

The Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper was powerless to stop Alexander Frei's freekick which came off the post, struck Fernandez full in the face and then rolled into the net. The goal could cost the club their place in the Bundesliga.

Between Kung Fu style tackles and Fernandez's misfortune it's clear that there's never a dull moment in the life of a Bundesliga goalkeeper. And things are set to become even more interesting in that department with the reticent Jens Lehman is on his way back there too!
