Anton Ferdinand set for £6m Spurs transfer
Spurs have stepped up their interest in signing West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand. According to The Daily Mail the 22-year-old has told friends that he is set to for a £6m transfer from Upton Park to White Hart Lane.
Juande Ramos is looking to strengthen Tottenham's rearguard due to Ledley King's ongoing injury problems and Richard Dunne's decision to remain at Manchester City following the appointment of Mark Hughes.
Ferdinand had a great first season in the Premiership during West Ham's return to the league in 2005 but his form has dipped considerably since then. Spurs are hoping that the young defender can form a solid partnership with Jonathon Woodgate at the back.
While West Ham will be reluctant to sell on another Ferdinand, Alan Curbishley has been instructed by the board that the club needs to reduce its wage bill. So Spurs offer may be too good to turn down.
