Chelsea's title challenge suffered a blow this afternoon with the news that striker Nicolas Anelka will be out for three weeks with a toe injury. The Blues tasted defeat for the first time since Guus Hiddink took over, losing 1-0 to Spurs at the weekend.
Anelka is the Premier League's joint top scorer with Steven Gerrard on 15 goals, but the injury could rule him out of Chelsea's Champions League clash with Liverpool. France will now have to do without the former Arsenal striker for the double header against Lithuania.
Anelka's absence means a call up for Paris St Germain's Guillaume Hoarau. The young striker has scored 15 goals in Ligue 1 this season.
