Andy Murray: tennis profile

This season has seen Andy Murray's tennis experience some highs and lows where his quest to win a grandslam is still on going with a few near misses to his name. But no one remembers second place, and Andy Murray knows that better than anyone and will be desperately hoping to put the disappointment of Wimbledon and Australian Open behind him and press forward on his way to glory.

Still at the tender age of 24, Murray certainly has his whole career ahead of him and there is no reason to suggest that he won't eventually succeed in a grandslam in the near future. the biggest disappointment to his year may have been failing to reach the final of Wimbledon after Rafael Nadal turned in a world class display to deny the British number one a place in the final.

The other grandslams so far have seen Murray defeated in the final in Australia whilst reaching the semi final in the French Open. All attention now turns to the US Open where Murray will be desperately trying to break the duck and return back home with the winners trophy in hand. With stuff competition in the from of world number one Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and the formidable opponent in Roger Federer it will be far from easy but the world number four has as good a chance as any and will have no reason to fear any opponent.

Only time will tell whether Murray will be able to reign victorious in the United states but one thing is for sure, he will have to play his best tennis in order to overcome some huge names who will be hoping as much as Murray to get their hands on the elusive winners trophy.
