Andy Murray beats Rafael Nadal

Andy Murray beat Rafael Nadal earlier this morning to qualify for the semi-final of the Australian Open. The British No.1 was leading 3-6, 6-7 (2-7), 0-3 when the Spaniard was forced to retire with knee trouble.

The result means that Murray will now meet Croatian Maric Cilic on Thursday in the semi-final of the Grand Slam tournament with Roger Federer likely to be waiting for the victor in Sunday's final. Sadly for Nadal his injury has cast a cloud over the future of his career.

'I hope I'm going to turn that around,' Murray told reporters when asked about his previous meeting with Cilic: defeat in the US Open. 'I'm feeling good here, so I think I've got a good shot.' The 22-year-old Scot appears to be in the form of his life with his decision making and serving both top drawer so far in this tournament.
