Ancelotti confirmed as new Chelsea manager

Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as Chelsea manager following weeks of speculation. The former Milan boss will take over from interim boss Guus Hiddink on July 1.

Speaking about his appointment the Italian laid down a marker straight away claiming that the Blues have to win the Champions League under his management. "Chelsea have a great record, five semi-finals in six years is a beautiful score but now we have to win [it]," Ancelotti told the Blues' official website.

The Italian continued: "[You need] great motivation and the right objective, and at Chelsea it is easy to find the right objective: to win the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup. All of that, naturally, is not easy but the right way [to do it] is to create a group of people that work well together."

Ancelotti gave his first interview in English and admitted that he needs to work on his language skills before the start of the season: "For me it is not easy. I want to learn, I want to improve and when we start the new season I want to speak well because it is important for me to speak with the players, the team, the assistant and the people who will work with me."

The former Reggiana, Parma, Juventus and Milan coach becomes Chelsea's fourth manager in 21 months and Blues fans will be hoping that Ancelotti can deliver on his early promise of Champions League glory.
