Ancelotti: Chelsea title win is dawn of new era

Chelsea won their first title in three seasons yesterday afternoon and Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti believes that the victory heralds a new period of Premier League dominance for the London club.

The former AC Milan coach watched his team thump Wigan 8-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and finish the season top of the league for the first time since Jose Mourinho’s departure back in 2007.

Speaking to reporters afterwards a delighted Ancelotti claimed that the current Chelsea side could take a strangle hold on the Premier League over the next few years.

'This club will have a future because these players are not so old and we have a very good squad, for next year and the years after,' he said.

'We had a fantastic season, not only by winning the Premier League but because we showed good style on the pitch. After the first year, I hope to stay here a long time and win a lot of titles.'

Ancelotti also paid tribute to club owner Roman Abramovich who installed the Italian as manager with the aim of winning the title in style.

'To win this game and close out this title, we are very happy,' the Chelsea manager continued. 'I want to say a lot of thanks - to my owner, Roman Abramovich; to my club and everyone who worked with me in this season, supporting me every day; and above all my players.'
