Alonso wins Singapore grand prix with amazing performance
Fernando Alonso produced an amazing performance to win the Singapore grand prix earlier today. The Spaniard started in 15th place after a disastrous qualifying round, but drove the race of his life to take the chequered flag.
The race was historical for other reasons being the first time that a Formula One grand prix was held at night. Nico Rosberg was second for Williams with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton finishing in third place.
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa had a nightmare finishing in 13th place after starting in pole position. The Brazilian looked set to win until a disastrous pit stop on the 18th lap which saw him try to leave the pit lane with a fuel hose attached.
Massa's disastrous night has given Lewis Hamilton's title hopes a great boost with just three races to go before the end of the season.
