Allardyce makes winning start as Blackburn manager

Sam Allardyce made a winning start as Blackburn manager this afternoon having taken over from Paul Ince on Thursday. Rovers beat Stoke City 3-0 at Ewood park, their first win since September 27.

Despite Stoke starting strongly, Blackburn were three goals ahead within 27 minutes. Morten Gamst Pedersen was felled in the box by Ibrahima Sonko and Benni McCarthy made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Jason Roberts doubled Blackburn's lead following a mistake from Dannu Higginbotham before McCarthy grabbed his second of the day to finish the game as contest after just half an hour. Shorn of Rory Delap's long throw-ins, Stoke appeared to have no Plan B.
