Allardyce declares interest in Sunderland job
Former Bolton and Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has declared his interest in the vacant Sunderland job following Roy Keane's resignation.
Big Sam has emerged as the bookies favourite to be installed at the Stadium of Light despite having managed rivals Newcastle last year. Allardyce told reporters: "Sunderland are a great club so of course I'd be interested in talking to them. I have huge respect for the chairman Niall Quinn and the job he has done."
While Black Cats' fans may not be too happy with the idea of a former Newcastle manager taking over the manager's job at the Stadium of Light, Allardyce is also an ex-Sunderland player having made 25 appearances on Wearside in the 1980/81 season.
