Allardyce considers summer move for Barton
Just when it appeared as if no one would be interested in signing troubled Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton following his latest indiscretion, the Guardian reports that Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is considering a summer move for the 26-year-old.
The pair have already worked together at Newcastle and it was Allardyce who brought Barton to St James' Park from Manchester City back in 2007. The former Bolton boss has a reputation for getting the best out of troubled souls having now signed El-Hadji Diouf on two separate occasions.
Newcastle manager Alan Shearer is looking to offload Barton in the summer following the fallout from the midfielder's red card against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. The fact that another Premier League club is willing to take a chance on Barton, despite his footballing potential, is truly mystifying.
